I was so excited to see my blog stats go up the other day after I posted the coral and turquoise outfit that I was wearing, so I’ve decided to do another outfit this week!
So this outfit was put together because of an image I saw on Pinterest. Normally I don’t care to mix black and brown, but I didn’t mind it so much with this look. It’s actually opened me up to wearing the colors together more with other outfits. And even though black and brown is normally associated with fall and winter, I wear this during the spring. I just add a chunky, colorful necklace or scarf. Viola—a twist on the neutral & bright trend. I also feel like this look could be made more into a spring time look by wearing a sleeveless black dress, and switching out the boots for strappy sandals. Heck, you could go as far as wearing the black dress, with a colorful belt and sandals/flats and ditch the brown all together. This look could be spun so many different ways, which is one of the reasons I think I gravitated towards it so much.
The dress I normally wear with this look is actually sleeveless, but I’ve always been a huge fan of dresses with sleeves. Because my dress is sleeveless, I almost always wear a jean jacket with it to keep it slightly more casual—but I always have the sleeves of my jean jacket rolled. I think it looks dated if the sleeves aren’t rolled. Just my personal preference. Then I add a lightweight scarf or a fun necklace. The polk-a-dot scarf shown I actually own, along with the jean jacket. My boots are three years old from Urban Outfitters (I can’t bring myself to replace them quite yet), but the ones shown are super close. Add a favorite brown belt—thick or skinny and the look is complete!
